Congressmen Barney Frank (D-MA) and Ron Paul (R-TX) have teamed up to introduce a bill that would prevent employees of the federal government to implement the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). If passed, H.R. 5767, introduced April 10, would prohibit the Treasury and the Board.
Sunday’s second flight of the PokerStars.com EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo began play with 450 players. This puts the total starting field for the €10,000 buy-in event at 842 players, 136 more than last year, when Gavin Griffin took.
H.R. 5767 would prohibit the Department of Treasury and Federal Reserve System from proposing, prescribing or implementing any regulations related to the current ban on Internet gambling, as required by the UIGEA.
“These regulations are impossible to implement without placing a significant burden on the payments system and financial institutions,” said Frank in a statement on Friday.
The controversial UIGEA was passed way back in October of 2006 as a part of the SAFE port.
