There is a suspicion of attempted suicide behind Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ admission to a London hospital, from which he was discharged yesterday. The 33-year-old actor, known for Match Point and the TV series I Tudors, was taken to the clinic after refusing treatment by doctors who rescued him at home.
Paramedics, who were alerted by a call, found Jonathan Rhys Meyers slumped on the floor and had to call the police because he did not want to be rescued. A source close to the movie and TV star said: It is very sad and only confirms the suspicion that he tried to take his own life.
The 33-year-old actor and sex symbol has been fighting alcohol addiction for years and just last Tuesday he was admitted to a detoxification facility. After his resignation, however, he ran home without giving a statement to the paparazzi who were besieging the entrance to the clinic.
A Scotland Yard source told People magazine: We simply received a call and went to that address, then escorted the man to the hospital. Our involvement in this case is limited to this.
