The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is a 2011 film directed by Rupert Wyatt, a reprise of the film series based on the 1963 novel The Planet of the Apes by Pierre Boulle.
Plot
Dr. Will Rodman (James Franco) is a researcher studying a cure for Alzheimer’s, testing his research on laboratory monkeys. However, when the Caesar monkey begins to show very rapid evolutionary signs and growing intelligence, Dr. Rodman decides to take him home with him to get him out of the cruel laboratory where he is locked up. However, Caesar rebels, giving rise to a revolt involving all the primates used in the experiments.
Unlike the other films in the series, the monkeys in the film were not made using costumes, but were recreated using CGI computer graphics developed by the New Zealand special effects company Weta Digital. Originally scheduled for June, the film will be released in the United States on August 5. In Italy it will be released on September 23, 2011. The first full trailer was released on Yahoo! Movies on June 2, 2011.
